What does the 6200 compare in radeon 9xxx terms? is it better than the 9800pro?

The main reason im asking this is i had someone say that the 6200 was faster thand the 9800 pro. I thought the 6600 was faster but 6200 was slower.

Someone want to straighten me out on the facts?

Its about as fast as a 9600XT. The only thing that matches a 9800PRO is a 6600GT. Anything lower is slower

Thanks, thats what i thought, but i wanted to confirm it, since someone mentioned there 6200 could beat my 9800 pro

Keep in mind that 9500s and 9700s are faster than a 9600.

6200 is not a bad card, but its nothing special. If it flashes, you are looking a somehting with a pretty good core, and junk RAM. Just keep that in mind.

If you can come up with the few extra $, the 6600GT is well worth it.

Most likely not. But anything is possible.

i will just remain satisfied that my 9800pro beats a stock 6200 and leave it at that

there are two 6200 too one is the NV43 and the other is NV44b(Turbo Cache flavor) avoid the Turbo Cache one. If they have the Turbo Cache you can laugh at them!!! If they have the old 6200 core they can softmod to 8 pipes and overclock it to 350/650 which will be about 6600 speed.

Probally. The 5900s were pretty crappy cards. Slow, hot, expensive, need I go on?

A 6200 is a 64 bit card, and no amount of flashing is gonna change that. Its Junk Plain and simple. Its comparable (by todays standards) To a MX4000 if you ask me. What do you expect from a $49 card?

I have a 128 bit Asus 6200 and the card is not junk. It's definately not the best card out there but if you can get one that unlocks like mine then you're looking at a very good budget card. Right now my card does about as good in 3DMark03 as a 6600GT stock for only $100. Let me emphasize the stock part because I've seen 6600GT's that overclock really well. There are a few people out there that have gotten their 6200's to do as well as a slightly oc'd 6600GT also.

Have a look for yourself (http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/showthread.php?p=837970#post837970)

The 128bit 6200's are not junk if you can OC them (better if the pipes unlock). Sure they are held back by DDR ram and have a crippled core, but I have seen several examples on the forums pretty much match a stock 6600gt in benchmarks. My brother just got a Gigabyte 6200 that clocks to a stable 450/600 and scored 5200 in 3dmark03 and 2100 in 05. Not to bad for a card that is around $100.

Plus good examples have performed even better.

A 6200 scoring 7507 in 3dMark03 on stock cooling is not to shabby! Better than my R360 core 9800 Pro ever scored even at XT speeds.

yes, i was originally considering a stock 9800pro vs a stock 6200

to me comparing a 9800pro flashed to an xt and and a 6200 flashed to a 6600 is more like comparing a 9800xt and a 6600

a 6200 would be akin to a 9600pro. flash it to 8 pipes and it comes close to a 9700pro. however for $100 forget the 6200, get a 9700pro!

Junk, my ass! My 6200 is just a tad slower than a 6600GT(stock). I have the BIOS flashed to the Sparkle 6600 BIOS and the card is overclocked 500/700 thanks to extra cooling. While I do agree that they went very cheap on these cards (especially the memory modules), some good tweaking will get them up and running with the 'big boys'. For the budget minded tweaker, they are bliss!

STock, as i said before whats the point incomparing cards that reflash to other cards. i already know what the 6600 gt compares to. I thought some of the newer 6200s didnt flash

Although it is good to know about a budget option.

Thanks for the help

And for the posters answer. The NON-TC 6200version is comparealbe to the ATI600x, or a striped 6600.

it beats the 300x ati.

It is a good bang for the buck card. The "AGP8x non TC" version that is.
