View Full Version : Hurt one... hurt all. Please stop.
Here's a PM I received this morning from a FRIEND, whom I didn't ask permission to post this, so I will leave the person anonymous:
"You're very welcome.
I doubt you will see very much of me on oc.com anymore.
I've been working with Daniel Edgar on his forums and I can feel the hostility here towards his staff and forum....things will get ugly. Not from management here, but from the other members. things are already heating up in the folding@home section...I imagine it will eventually work it's way into the rest of the forum.
I'll be checking in from time to time to fulfill my obligations as a senior member, but, I don't think I will participate to the extent that I was here.
Anyways, it was nice to hear from you. Be well."
We at Overclockers.com forums have 9461 members vs. AOA's 121 members.
Would those responsible PLEASE stop the flaming and criticisms of AOA and try wishing them good will instead? PLease!
These people are NOT our enemies, damn it, don't you remember... THEY ARE OUR FRIENDS..OLD FRIENDS,EVEN!
I strongly urge you to think before you post...you are reflective of all of our 9461 members here and as long as I have been involved it has been "Help if you can...and if you can't help then DON'T HURT!"
When you attempt to hurt anyone...you are hurting all.
Please stop.

Thanks man, I consider you a friend as well.
You speak some wise words there.
Perhaps I should add that I wasn't the one who sent that PM...

Very well said,
I donīt see a point in the flame wars that recently started in the Folding@home section..
This forum has been the less aggressive one and the most comfortable I know, and I donīt want to let this change...
Pals, we should be friends here and not flame each other.
In the End we are doing this all for fun, arenīt we?!

I completely agree, why can't we stop all this bickering and get back to folding for humanity/stats/whatever you want?
I think we can all agree from recent events in the US that united we stand and divided we fall. If everyone starts fighting in these forums I don't think that it will last very long.
One reason I've been a member of this forum instead of others is because of the friendly environment. I don't want to see that change.
After all, at the end of the day, all of this is for fun, right?

VERY well put Allan. I can understand some of the hostility, but I can't understand the degree of it either. FOLD ON!
I agree, we should try to stop arguing and try to get along as old friends do.
I admit I am the cause of the latest round of problems and am truly sorry that I put us in that situation. I have hopefully solved the problem (see the original thread called folding assignments) and will step down as team leader if thats what everyone wants me to do.
Again I apoligize for getting into this situation and taking as long as I did to resolve it. I had to give it some thought and after doing so, came up with the only solution that would be right.
Bill.
I still don't get all the fuss. I will always be a member here. Does that mean, heaven forbid, that this site should ever close its doors, I can never become a member elsewhere?
Really, this is about community. Let's not forget we're all here to hang and help.

TT120 no one wants you to step down as team leader you are a valuable asset to all the members here at F@H you are a leader as well as SFA Ok to help folding partners with any problems and to give credit (do your team leader thing).
Allan Nielsen did an excellent job although I beleive fresh faces into a old job is often a very effective way of increasing a teams performance.
In the real world I have a Ģ20Million target for my team of sales personel at the company I work at and I am expected to deliver the traget and above (if possible) and I do try to acheive that. And you in the same way try hard as me to lead the overclockers.com folding@home team. What we are all doing is helping the whole of the world as a society of civilzed people.
You are respected by us all,
Keep up the good work and fold on.

William was acting because he was "insulted" by what I said to the people who left our team last night on THEIR forum.
boo frickin hoo , if people want to leave , let them leave ,I didnt sign a contract to Fold ONLY here when I joined , thats the good thing about having the right to choose ,and I really dont come in the Folding area cuz of all the "He said She said SH*T" that people are b*tchin about ,...Question :What type of person do you want to be in these forums?
1) the crybaby complainer who doesnt shut up?
...or...
2) mature adults who can RESPECT other peoples choices?
..
I thought of it last night after all of the complaining going on in here over the last week+ it is rediculous I think I am going to go to a different site and maybe come back later and see if all the bickering is done ,

Hear hear!
Only one thing- most people are doing that already.
There are 2 maybe 3 people who are propagating an extremely bad vibe. The rest of us will be glad to be rid of the hassle, when those few finally give it a rest.

Would71,
I've only been a member for around a month. When I first joined up your posts seemed generally helpful and level headed. Lately most of the time I see something by you you sound really angry and you complain about people walking all over you. You also react harshly to people who aren't being harsh to you. Since this all doesn't match with the picture I had initially formed of you, I'm inclined to ask; Everything ok over there?

Hey, no problem, if you need to use me as an excuse to mouth off before you leave, go for it. I'm used to being used as an excuse
I am not using you as an excuse for leaving I dont need an excuse the REASON IS I feel that things are getting a little childish in here and when people GROW UP and act remotely close to their age it will be a better place .
If you want me to mouth off I got a few but I am mature enough to "let it go" dont take everything so personal
There have been alot of things leading up to this ,it frankly has been getting a little stale in the forums lately and maybe the politics have had some impact on my decision

if I got something to say I will say it. I hate that talking behind someines back thing ,now THATS childish , I will agree with you on that would71`
and I am not leaving just taking a break for a while

Thanks WillysNut. (by the way I used to have a sweeeet '48, all kinds of original trim...chevy in-line 250 spicer(?) 4 spd w/ warn OD, BIG ol' mud tires...get this- original wiring! I miss the old gal...)
I'd missed that thread. I noticed it's from August 14th, my birthday...
Anyway, I want to thank you for turning me on to the first part of that thread, before someone threw a wet blanket on the fire...it made me feel pretty good to see everyone so happy. Maybe we can get there again pretty soon. I'll be more a part of it than I've been in the past, because since my brother's come down with his ailment I've begun to see the real need to get this work done.

Ahh..I love changing the subject for jeeps. The spicer part is..Spicer T-18, 3-Speed. Man..you had a Warn Overdrive!!! They are almost impossible to find original. Mine has been converted to 12v but I do still have some of the original cloth wrapper wiring work. Gettin' ready to pack her up for the winter :(.
Good to see everyone is getting back to normal again!! :)

Willy's Nut I agree jeeps are great, but I still like my 1969 MACH 1 Mustang ;candyapple red,351c@425hp (bottlenecked with a 3speed :( ) I had 4speed, but it died and couldnt afford to fix it...yet...
I also have a Willy's Jeep though its a bit rough...
Forgot the year model now as I ahven't messed with it in years...
think it's around a 63 model Wagon...it has a modified drivetrain though 289 cobra w/ an old automatic trans....super muscle ..used to use it to pull my boat with until trans burnt up(didnt know it was leaking fluid BADLY) Only vehicle I've had that could pull my boat from the water (steep grade) without pressing the gas. *sigh* miss playing with that old thing....maybe one of these days I'll get it back up and running...
BTW as far as the problems that's been surfacing in the forum I've just ignored them and will continue to do so when they pop up and if they don't stop I'll do something else...stick to AMD CPU's and MB's and go elsewhere for other info.
