View Full Version : just lapped my SK6
I don't know if it really help, i'm crunchin right now at 42C (used to be from 42-44) I guess it helped a little. I also try to use my delta without the 7v mod., the temp got to 39, 3C is not worth the noise. if you haven't try to use the mod. try it, your cpu might be 3-4 C hotter, but the noise is like cut in half.

What did you use to Lap it? My SK-6 looked pretty smooth when I got it stock.
it's not the best lapping, I used only the 1500 grit. and work it for only about 5 minutes and put it back in to see any diff. i'll wait for my blue orb to get here (for my radeon) and do everything at once.
my sk6 wasn't very smooth when I got it, I could feel the grain of the machine work with my fingernail.

LOL, that's an awsome Avator, just bearly on the edge of allowed here, lol.
For a second I thought you would get slapped for it. Then it contued.. Nice... Did you make it?
For lapping your SK6
start with something around 800 and work up to 1500.
when you done clean it with nail pollish remover.
I droped 4C when I lapped mine, I also found my temps to raise alot slower and drop faster....
When I got my orb it was really rough on the bottom, I had to start with 220 and go up to 1200..."thats all I can get a hold of"
but the blorb is awesome for cooling chips,
I have mine on my GTS and I can pull an extra 100MHZ off my ram
I didn't clean mine with nail polish remover, i'll next time. I still haven't receive the blueorb yet, I order from 1coolpc like a week ago.. 100mhz? that's a lot of gaining.. kool.
yeah I made my own cat :D
I wen't all the way up to 2000 grit and then when I thought it was good I went to the shed started up the 8 inch grinder ( with a buffing wheel ) applied some fine jewlers rouge and poli**** it to a high gloss then wa**** with acitone ( finger nail polish remover if you cant find the staight stuff ) then shined it alittle with a cotten cloth. you can see a pick of it in a post alittle lower on the list in another thread if you like.?:D
