If it strikes your house, yes; if it strikes your power line, yes; if you open your window so all the rain goes on the computer, yes.

you do have a decent surge protector with an insurance policy don't you.

If your computer is protected thru a APC (or another brand of back-up power supply) there is very little to be worried about. However electrical power varidations are always a concern. Many people shutdown and unplug there computer and components during a storm to insure safety from power surges.
In the part of the US where I am from you are always exposed to brown-out or black-out or power surges without protection (like APC's) and sooner or later will
dammage or destroy computer components. This is espically true during thunderstorms.I would use caution and unplug my units unless I had a back-up power supply that protected my components.I work on a lot of computers because people did not do this. That is also why I have a back-up power supply for each computer and mointor I run.
When we get lightening storms here, I switch off my computer's power and unplug the phone line.
My power runs through a dual pole light switch, so both hot and neutral are off.
As a phone repairman, I see a failed surge protector about once a week during the summer months, and their toasted modem/computer is shorting the phone system...I can't (won't) afford to take the chance. ;)
