I had tried to post this before, and think that I did indeed succeed at the end of another thread but wanted some input, so I created another thread.
I think that Max Payne Sucks. It is way too hard to be fun. The time required to learn it and play it requires that the player be either in college or unemployed. It is just not worth it...
Thoughts?

I completely disagree. Max Payne is not very hard to learn, after you complete the tutorial, its easy going. And on the minimal difficulty setting (which is all you can use when you start the game) it is fairly easy for a beginner. If the game is in fact too hard for you, there are cheats available to make it VERY easy. It deosnt suck.
I think this is going to turn into a flamewar. I'd advise that people stay away.

sorry, didn't mean to make people mad.
Just wanted input on why i think this game is so dificult to figure out.
No offense to anyone that likes this game. Just posting my opinion, and wanted others...
thanks all.
you know whats hard to learn C then VB and maybe C++ but not max IMO the game has a short learning curve. I wish it was a bit harder............................TRIBES 2 is hard all those damn hot keys I still cant get it right!!!!!!!!!
I thought it was very simple to learn. Opened box and went straight to playing it.
At an average of 2 hours a night, finished in about a week.
Only complaint I had was that it was too short and became somewhat monotonous after getting about halfway through. The story just wasn't intriguing enough to keep me interested after doing nothing but runnning around and shooting the same bad guys over and over again.
I got through the whole game while using bullet time maybe haf a dozen times. Most of those for fun only.
I figure if you know how to roll and shoot you've got all you need to make it through.
it cant be too hard the game ween you get it at 1st is molded with what you do if you pass the 1st senario in a Flash then it will be harder since the game calculate what you do and makes it harder....but if it takes you 4hours to do the 1st thing then the game will make it easyer to play thats what i read at the max webpage well go see i kno there are some cheats and lots and lots of Mods for the game to make it more fun the one i like is the Matrix one go and dl it look around you will find it ;)

I guess I'll admit it, I am an idiot, with low tolerance for frustration...

just finished max payne last night. the ending sucked. but its a fairly fun game... and its not hard to learn! it auto-detects your skill so whenever you die and re-load a saved game a couple of times the game makes it easier...

Too late, Oni. Flouder, your opinion is lost on all of us. Max Payne is one of the best games out right now.
And like I said in that other thread, unless you're some 50 year old man just learning computers, you have no reason to find Max Payne, or ANY FPS difficult to learn. If it's hard for you, play more FPS's, or don't play them at all.
I don't see this as being a doorway for a flame war at all.
Has been very civil to this point in my opinion.
Nothing wrong with conflicting opinions either as long as it's not getting out of hand.

I will agree that it was abit hard at the beginning for me. I haddent gotten the hang of bullettime yet, so i wasted it and played the first chapter with only o move worth of bullettime at any one point. I did get easier once i got used to it.

I bought Max Payne. Played it a few times and then put it down for a while becuase it was frustrating me. I'm going to try again soon and see if I can get used to it.
I think the biggest difference for me is the point of view movement. It seems to be exactly opposite as what I'm used to. Anyways...I think the graphics and the gameplay are great. I think it's more a matter of getting used to the gameplay style.
its true its a Hole new way to play just play a few ( for me 100)
time the practice and you NEED to get use to Bullettime its the best part of the game i use it 70% of the time its SOOOOO Sweet and if you Use BulletTime Wile you Snipe someone you will get to see a sweet @ss clip of the kill i love this game not more then EQ but hey its a start :)
My tree cents
Sorry, it just smelled like flamewar to me.
Actually, I picked up a copy of the game, just for s|-|its and giggles. Its actually pretty good. I wonder how much they had to pay the people who made the Matrix to use the phrase Bullet Time (It is copyrighted, y'know :)). I actually like that aspect an awful lot, but they could've given it more function. Shootdodging is cool and all, but its kinda useless in most situations (Using it has actually gotten me killed quite a few times).
I think the game has great promise. I like the engine, and the mechanics are very easy to learn. And its very rare nowadays that you see a game w/ good graphics and good game play all in one.

Us members were talking over at the max payne fourm 3dreamlds or however you spell it. anyway we were talking about the replay issues of the game...like after we finnish playing the game do we have a urge to play it again? So people said the mods and the levels will keep it going...
Some mods would be nice to see. The New York Minute mode is kinda neat, but I have no desire to use it, because I like to explore.

I'd say If you've ever played CS or Half Life or any other FPS you really should do fine with Max Payne. If you're frustrated take a break and try again. It really is worth it as it is probably the best single player FPS out there

At first I thought the game was awesome. But then it started to get boring towards the end. The same things happened over and over. I thought the story line was great except the ending needed some work. It was tricky to learn at first but not too bad.

Ya know you MIGHT have a point that its way too hard. When I first installed Max pain and started to play I found it very difficult, and ran out of ammo very quickly. SO I cheated. Even with god mode on & full weapons it still took me 2 weeks to complete. But I have to agree with you, the easy level is very hard!!;)
probably never figured out bullet time! LOL

This game is soo simple!!! I got an ISO off the net and just started playing with it and I have had some major fun with this game - by far the best game I have ever played on the PC or possibly ever!!!! I love the matrix tricks it does! Dual Ingrims sawing through the bad guys in slow motion - what more could you ask for?

That first day I played Max I loved it. Then at 1 a.m. after finishing it was kind of a disappointment. Now I just get on and play wolfenstein for about 5 min and get my fill.
i loved max payne its the first single player game ive wanted to beat since resident evil 3 and spyro 2:D

I don't see how you can't like this game. I'm not to good at these type of games so i think its hard for me (just started). the plot is good and so is the narriation. but the matrix's type effects kick a$$! this will defiently be up there on the best games ever played. i've only liked one other game more then this one.
even if you don't like the gameplay/plot you can stiill get a kick out of the grapgics and matrix's effects.
well i am god at these kinda games and even though it wont take me long to lick.
theres always the addons of levels, mods, and total conversions:D
P.S>the only problem is the damn thing keeps freezing up on me.
i might of had this game beaten already if wasnt for that.:(
Where be the mod addons?? I want to put a different look on Max Payne
