I have a Dual Xeon running XP Pro at the moment. Would I be better served by switching to Suse 9.3? The Dually is running at 2.25 right now (1.6 processors) with 1gb of RAM. The WU times are much longer than my A64 rig. My dually is running the one click install for Dual CPU's right now.

Or........... should I be running the Quad CPU one click version since I have dual hyperer threading CPU's?

XP Pro offers pretty good efficieny, there's no nee dto switch it to SuSe I think. Perhaps, if you want it to be some Linux server too, then it may have sense.

These Xeons may benefit from 2 instances per CPU, but I think that it might be problematic for them to run 4 QMDs, so perhaps 4 instances, of which 2 are with -advmethods?

I'm not great authority in terms of folding, so perhaps others may give some advice...

Sorry, only one QMD per Xeon duallie. The problem isn't with the CPUs but the shared memory bandwidth. Since I've started running only one QMD enabled client and one -advmethod + no >5Mb WU client, I've been getting consecutive QMDs on the fully enabled client and either large tinkers/Big Packet Gromacs on the second instance. 4x or 2x QMDs just bogs down the system and reduces PPD. I'm getting more PPD then ever since I configured my Xeon duallie this way.

My P4c now only runs one client for QMDs.
