Alright, im going wcing soon, and i dont have the room in my case for a heatercore, so im using an external setup. i plan on putting the heatercore on the top of my case, with a shroud around it for a case. the whole blue thing is the wooden or metal shroud.

thats just a rough sketch, i will make more if more are needed. will this hinder performance of the heatcore at all? the heatercore will have approx. 1 1/2 inches of free airspace below it. will anything hinder performance? i will have the fans sucking, as the resistance from blowing would be too big i think. any suggestions on how to make this better?

the first priority is making a good seal between the fans and the radiator - be it with your shroud, or tin-foil, or whatever you come up with -
anything you want to do after taking care of that first step won't hurt performance unless you are obstructing the flow in/out of the radiator. you don't really have worry any insulating effects from building a housing like that if its ventilated on both ends

im gonna have like slits down both sides. the heatercore will be like 1 1/2 inches off the top of the case. ill have the heatercore fit exactly inside of it, so its like a traditional shroud, but its all inclusive. i plan on drilling holes in the top of my case for the tubing to go through.
