i have got just bought two new 80 mm case fans, the 1st one is right next to the cpu hsf, should this one be blow in or blow out? the idle temp now is 43.3, but consider itz a hot day.
any help would be appricate.

the general wisdom seems to be that the igher fan blows out, the lower fan blows in. But each setup is different. Try it both ways and see what happens. I've talked to people who swear all fans should blow in, others who say they should all blow out. So try out as many combinations as you can, and watch your temps. Let us know what worked best.

i agree with above post.....

anyways i think if it was me then i will put the fan to blow out as that will suck away the hsf's heat

Actually, every setup is differernt, you see....
2 fans blowing in does not mean you are getting 2 times more the air, no no no,;) in fact you hardly getting 1.1x.

The only time you would get 2x is if there is a bigger airflow going that direction already or somehow the air has no resistance- which is impossible because the fans face resistance from everythign, your case pressure, outside pressure, anything inside your case etc...

Depending on how much pressure is in your case you'll be able to decide what to do, if you have 2 fans (all fans in this example are rated at equal CFMs) blowing in and only 1 blowing out, no mater where you add another one if you make it an intake it will be virtually no help... see where this is going?

BiG Appology for my spelling...On the phone.
(Hope it at least makes sense)

edit: forgot to add... it is better to have the set of fans be the same sort, so if you have 2 fans on your side they should both be either in or out, but don't do this if it doesn't relieve pressure, do this if you can, it will put less air resistance on both.

A good setup would be to have 2 intakes on side and 2 out on the top of the case.

Bye... still on the phone... ohyy family

I personaly would think blow out is the way to go with my board, as the AMD761 chipset is right next to my Cpu, and the direction where the case fan is blowing the hot air into, is the chipset, and trust me, the AMD761 chipset is bloody hot.
but then there is anyother issue comes in, as the fan is very powerful @ the front (if you know what i mean), but the back hardly have any air. and thatz where i am stuck.
beside i really can't be stuff climb under the table, unplug all the cords, then......... you know....... too much work has to be done:D
so i would have to carefully decide which way is better this time, so i dun haf to do it again ;)
anyway that 2 blow in 2 top blow out sounds very good but i only have a 300 watt and beside, i dun haf a hole on the top of my case. good idea though:rolleyes: lolz

I have 1 intake in the lower front, 1 in the higher front, and two exausts in the higher back, works fine wor me..
