Whats up guys
Well right now im building a computer for a friend, and after installing everything, i boot it up, and i get a blank screen. No signal is going to the monitor. I just get that orange stand-by light, and nothing on the screen. All the fans go on, the PSU works, and lights light up. I tested the video card in a different computer and it works. Im thinking its CPU related, but i dont know. Can anyone help me - tell me waht to try, what to do?
Specs

AMD Athlon 1.2ghz T-Bird
EPoX 8KHA
Raedon 64mb DDR VIVO
Power man 300 watt PSU
52x CD-ROM
IBM 60GXP 40 gig
Millennium Glaciator on the chip

Thanks
Matt

hmm... nobody else has posted here so I thought I'd just throw out a couple things you've probably already checked... did you test the processor in another system? did you check another processor with that mobo?

i can't really think of anything else it could be, unless there is a power supply problem...

is it set to 110v? :D

(kind of a joke about the 110v, but when I came here to the US I left my switching PSU on 220v and couldn't figure out why nothing was working...)

Make sure video card is seated all the way.

lol I turned my psu to 220v and the only thing it did was make the fans go slower=/

hmm
did you make sure the ram is in there good and try taking all the memory out and leaving one stick in

try resetting the cmos

how many watts is your powersupply?

try reseating the cpu (my friends cpu was soo dusty once it didnt have good contact and wouldnt post) and a reseat fixed it

could it be the monitor that isnt working?

just some suggestions.......

i switched my psu from 220v to 110v in hong kong which uses 220v power......i hit the switch then...BANG!!!!!

sparks flew out and it stinked horribly

and resulted in a new motherboard and psu.......but i couldnt find any slot 1 mobo(i was using intel before) so i sold my cpu and got myself a AMD system

try to take note of the BIOS beeps from the system speaker at start-up. If there is, how many beeps... these can really help you figure out what is wrong with your set-up...

Another possible reason is lack of power to the mainboard. Check your power rating....

Or maybe, a Video Card to Mobo chipset incompatibility.....

How about trying another video card? It just might be an incompatability issue.

Check your memory chip try a diferent one I had the same experience and it was the memory chip. It would post ok no BIOS probs but no pic at the monitor

This is probably a dumb question but I have to ask:

Did you use any thermal compound on the CPU when you mounted the Glaciator?

If the CPU doesn't make it through POST, the monitor will not start up.
