O.K. I fully admit I truly don't understand this stuff very well yet. So here is my question. I just put a new leadtek 6800nu AGP card in my computer yesterday. To this point I can only get driver version 61.77 to work with the card. I replaced an FX 5200 in which I was using 6693 and it worked fine. I am pretty sure I did my homework and did everything pretty much by the book. Uninstalled 5200 from hardware profile. Used Driver cleaner to get rid of all remnants of any other drivers. I have tried 6693, 7184, 7189, 7120, all with the same results, Windows loads fine, However when I test in futuremark 03 or 05 I have big image problems, In 03 on wings of fury I can see vapor trails, Gunfire, Smoke, Just no planes! Basically it's the same on everything, I can see all the "background" images, Just not first person images like characters. The wife had the same problem when she tried to play Everquest. Same result when I try O5. If you play a video it works, Just first image characters in games it seems.
I am wondering if this is just another example of where I am paying for the mistake of buying a computer off the shelf. 61.77 seems to work pretty well, Although the framrates on 3d O5 are pretty bad. It bench's solid in O3 and seems to play games I have tried well. I'm sure I should just leave well enough alone and be happy with the fact the 61.77 is working, Honestly I am just wondering why no other drivers will work.

H.P. A810n
Athlon 64 3300
Asus K8sla M.B SIS chipset
1 gig of ram
Rosewill 450 watt PSU (22a on 12v rail)
160 gb H.D
16x Dvd burner

Is it possibly an issue where all the drivers just won't mesh with H.P's limited bios? Like I said I really have no clue when it comes to this. Btw if it makes any difference I am using the onboard sound. Realtek 97, I have ordered a chaintech soundcard. This isn't a life or death issue, However if anyone has any ideas I would appreciate your thoughts!

Thanks Scott :bang head

Hmmm. That really is weird. Maybe you can try updating or reinstalling your motherboard's
chipset drivers.

Strat, Thanks for the response, I have indeed updated and reinstalled the latest chipset drivers from SIS. No luck. Like I said I really know nothing on this stuff, I just found it puzzling that I can only get the one driver to work. I have read these forums for a couple of months now and I have read how folks change drivers looking for performace boosts, Etc. I guess what really makes me confused is how the 6.6.9.3. driver worked fine with the fx5200 and it won't work with the 6800. I have read that a lot of people are using the 6693 on their 6800's.

Oh well, Thanks again
Scott

Is the card FULLY seated into the socket? It might be a pot shoot, but it's worth a try.

If all else fails, the card might be defective.

Interesting problem, doesn't sound like bios because the problems would happen with any drivers. It could be OS issues having installed multiple drivers, but it almost sounds like a power issue to me. I don't about Rosewill PSU's but I have used some of their other stuff and its been a bit on the cheap side.

I would probably try a clean windows install before I did anything else. First load chipset drivers then the newest video drivers then games or benchmark utilities.
