If I overclock I know that the life of the CPU is shortened but by how much?

It'll only seriously affect it if you're pumping like 2.3v+ through it, and the difference is something like it'll only last 7 years instead of 10 sort of ratio, and who keeps a CPU longer than a couple of years nowadays (if that) :)

So if I'm runing default Vcore or +.1/.2 I have nothing to worry about?

For the length of time you're likely to have the CPU, no, not at all ;)

overclocking will severely shorten the life off your cpu, but it won´t die on you in some month, nothing to worry about!

a normal cpu life not oced is 8-10 years
if you oc you should say your cpu loses half of its life years
4-5 years
a athlon 1.4gig in 4 years will be worth 5$
so oc the thing but just make sure you dont burn it

If my HS is properly seated and my temps aren't high (and that stays that way) it wont burn. right?

I quess that when the chip wont be worth anything about 2 yrs. or less I'll buy another chip to back this one up... :)

nope prolly not. Put your cpu at high load for an hour or so, and check for unstability (sometimes due to heat) or use MBM to find out the temps

Like the man said if youi lose 1/2 the life then 4 to 5 years. What voltage and temps do you have now?

Temps vary:
