Like all of ya, ill be bying a AthlonXP when it arrives For a long time i've been searching for the perfect HS/F combo. I dont want a big bad azz windmill of a cooler, byt at the same time i want to be able to play a little bit with the FSB(or whatever). I have finaly narrowed my choice down to either a Taisol CGK-760092 or a combo HS/F. The combo will probably be a Thermalright SK6 with a Fanadapter/funnel + a Sunon/papst 80mm. My question is how the combo with a Thermalright SK6 + a Fanadapter/funnel and a 80mm Sunon/papst will do performance/noice wise against the taisol?
Hello, and welcome to the forum!
I use the Taisol myself, and I'm happy about the performance, but I don't think it is as good as the SK6 though. Have you thought about getting the Silver Mountain? It should be a very good cooler, and cheaper than the SK6.
Altid rart at se en Dansker mere her i forummet, velkommen! :)
It's not exactly what you asked for, but I have some results with the Taisol 760. I've modified it to use a 80mm fan with an open shroud to minimise problems with pressure. And I'm using a reostat to reduse noise from my Papst fan.
AMD 1.33@1.33
Epox 8k7a+
Ambient 21c
Case 22c
CPU idle 38c
CPU load 46c
Ambient is room temperatur measured with an indoor/outdoor thermometer. Case is temp reported by MB. All temps from MBM. Idle is after stabilising form load temp. Load is from MBM log after several hours of Max Payne. Other "warming tools" did not give higher temps.
I have the Taisol and I don't see many temps better than mine....even water, check my sig

First off al thansk 4 your replies :)
Like I said I want the best combo between a "silent" and a good performace cooler, dont care if it costs me 50 or 100 $. If u have any other sugestions than the SK6 with a 80mm Sunon/Pabst fan, well then ill be glad to hear them :)
The reason that i have thought of this combo, well its quite easy figuere. Teh SK6 is one(if not the?) best HS' around, and since a 80mm fan is performing really good compared to the noice is provides, i thought that i would make en excelent choice. I know that the taisol is a really good HS/F performace/noice wise, but I was hoping that this combo or another can be compared to it both in performace and offcourse in noice??
To Walter: tak for velkomsten :D Altid rart at se høflige danskere hehe ;-)

Hi I have found out that the Sk-6 do not need a fanadapter to use a 80mm fan, obvioslu i have not done my homework good enough.
Now the big question is, which fan is the best performance/noice(dont care about the price difference) wice, a Sunon or a pabst fan??

Just as i thought i have decided on which heatsink to use, there's a new great option. I am offcourse talking about the Alpha PAL 8045.
In all of the review's I have read about the SK-6, they use a loud 60mm fan, anyone have seen a review with a 80mm, especially where they also tests the Alpha PAL 8045??
What would be the best heatsink with a quiet 80mm fan, SK-6 or Alpha PAL 8045??

get the swiftech 462 bare heatsink, then put a panaflow 80mm on it, that will be GREAT and quiet

I have decided to go with the ALPHA PAL 8045 with a Pabst 80mm fan.
Now i dont now which:
Papst 8412NGH, 46,5 CFM, 37 dBA, 3600 RPM.
or
Papst 8412NGM, 34,1 CFM, 26 dBA, 2600 RPM
Offcourse i know the 3600RPM has a better performance, but i dont now how the noice is?? Will i be able to live with it, again i want a quiet computer, how is it worth getting 11.4CFM more at the prise of 11dBA??
Hi, sorry I haven't posted for some time.
Have you had a look at this site? www.kylning.com
It's proberbly the best place for a Dane to buy cooling gear. Take a look at the Silver Mountain, I will buy that one when I have the money. I've heard that it's a great performer, almost as good as the SK6 (Some even say it's better!), but for only half the money! :) I think you will get a better result with the Silver M. than the Alpha. You might want to get another fan, because the one that's on it is very loud.

Walter:-) offcourse i know www.kylning.com, isnt it located in Sveden? (not Denmark thats 4 sure).
I dont want the Silver Mountain, but thx for bringin it up. Am quite sure that the ALPHA PAL 8045 beat it, have not seen it loose yet(maybe to the SK6 by 0.5).
Once again, which of the 2 listet fans should I use 4 the ALPHA PAL 8045:
Papst 8412NGH, 46,5 CFM, 37 dBA, 3600 RPM.
Papst 8412NGM, 34,1 CFM, 26 dBA, 2600 RPM

sounds like they are the same fan just running at different voltages, get the faster one, i dont think you will notice much difference

OK, I was just checking :)
I agree the overclocker, I think you should get the 3600 RPM.
