View Full Version : 3D Thrill 315 card
I'm running an AMD 800 clocking at 1.12 ghz. Installed the new 3d thrill 315 card. System hangs. Anyone tried this new card yet?
Welcome to the forums! I've never heard of that card, do you have any more info you could share about it?

I bought the card at HM Computers. I t has 128 megs on board with tv out capabilities. Comes with Eagle Eye software that suppost to wok with Open GL. It was advertised as the fastest and most advance card on the market. I could not get it work. Maybe my AMD doesn't have what it takes. Internet price was under a hundred dollars
Ah, I think I get it- sounds like you bought a workstation card. Probably a FireGL card. Yeah, it may be the fastest card on the planet but fastest at what? CAD applications from 1995?:D I have a dollar that says the salesman swindled you. Not saying it's not a fast or good card, it no doubt is- but it's not something a regular person would need. Or even be able to use.
Also, if it's under $100, no way in heck it's the fastest and most advanced card on the market at anything!
Unless you plan on doing a lot of 3d Modeling and CAD/CAM applications, I'd trade that back in immediately. Go for something with an nVidia chipset, the Geforce3 currently is the reigning champ for games and regular D3d/OpenGL applications. Or if 2d apps are more your thing, the Radeon series from ATI always gets good marks. With either of those, the installed user base is huge, and we're much more likely to be able to help you or offer advice.
Or even a Geforce MX, that'll get the job done for $75 or less! If you are stuck with that card, I have no idea how you'll be able to get it to work. Workstation cards are notoriously finicky about where and how they are installed. Your best bet would be to get in touch with the manufacturer, there are dozens of reasons why it might not work. Personally I would get rid of it as soon as possible. Ebay?

fro 70 bucks i recommend th radeon 32 mb, but for 110 you can get a gf2pro offa pricewatch.......the gf2 pro is hella faster but the radeon sure looks pretty in 2D, and isnt that much slower....maybe 10%
