View Full Version : Buzzing sound when using audio output
What up ya'll. I have a Turtle Beach soundcard. Currently i have a mini to rca cable connected from my computer to my tv. This is so i can watch movies on my tv and have sound come out of the tv. However, alot of the time i hear this buzzing sound while it plays. Sometimes its louder than other times. The buzzing sound gets louder the more i turn up the volume. Is there a way to get rid of this annoying buzzing sound?
Thanks

I had exactly the same problem when building my sister's PC. She didn't want to spend much money, so I picked up a cheapo case + PSU for £25. As soon as I replaced the PSU, the buzzing noise completely went away.
Don't know if this is the same problem, but it might also be a PSU issue.

Thanks for your response. But i think its a different problem. The sound isn't coming from my computer. Rather, the sound is coming from the tv. It some sort of feedback sound.

The sound came from the speakers, but it was the PSU that was causing it. When I plugged in additional stuff, like a USB modem, the sound got louder and the sound also changed when loading Windows etc. Turning the volume down on the speakers made no difference at all.
Strange problem, but I assume the cheap PSU was causing some kind of electrical interference on the mobo.

make sure line in/cd/mic are muted.
i had this problem as well. i finally figured out that when i unplugged the cable (coax) from the tv, all my problems went away. i think there was ground issue with the tv, but it works now and i'm happy
Hmm...I dont want to have to unplug the coaxial cable each time i watch tv. But i'll test it anyways to see if it makes a difference. I'll also try SavageBashers idea. Thanks again guys for your input
After testing a few things, its actually my mini to rca cable that is causing the buzzing sound. Is it the quality of the cable thats causing this? when remove the cable from the soundcard, the buzzing goes away. If i touch the end of the mini cable (while its connected to the tv on the other end) the buzzing sound comes back. Does anybody know of good quality cables that i could buy to eliminate this problem? The cable i have is just a cheap belkin cable that i got from circuit city. The ends are not gold plated if that makes any diff. Thanks
of course the buzzing will stop if you unplug the audio cable, but i'm not really following the touching thing. did you try my suggestion?

ive had problems with several jack --> phono leads screwing up on me and causing a buzzing sound... i kept having to mess with the wire to make it stop. if you buy any half-decent cables you should be fine (i.e. avoid the 10m for £2/$2 cables u can buy on markets and stuff ;p)

I had the same problem and tried many things but then I considered bad grounding. Most cable converter boxes let you plug your tv into the back of it to conserve a wall socket slot. By removing the tv pwr plug from the cable converter box and putting it into a wall socket instead the buzz evaporated!

I heard buzzing too... until I killed that Bee's Nest that was causing everyone to get stung! LOL, but serously, I have found problems with hardware, certain settings in drivers, etc...
Your best bet is to buy a HDMI receiver and use that as an output:(
yea its called a ground loop be sure both your pc and tv plugs in the wall are both 3 prong that is the only way they can share a ground and eliminate the sounds
they also have ground loop isolators http://www.radioshack.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2062214 they use a transformer to difuse the DC power that is leaking into the AC audio signal i used one because i had an annoying alternator whine in my speakers in my truck also had the issue when i had my carputer installed the same deal fixed it, hope this helps

My Pump Controller may have been responsible for the noise I was hearing. Though it could of been a half dozen other things, since Mine went away after a rebuild. It may even be a setting called "SVN"...
