I have a 1.4ghz t-bird (non overclocked) on an Epox 8k7a+ motherboard, 512mb crucial ddr ram, and a visiontek geforce2 ultra. I have almost the latest bios for the motherboard and the *latest* drivers for the 4in1 thing on the board.. my 3dmark scores are barely breaking 2k when people are telling me they are getting twice that with hardware that just couldn't compete with what I have =/.

I did have a Voodoo3 3k installed.. could something be hanging around from that driver install? I also had the latest detonators but de-installed them since they were screwing up the games I play.. I have the 1.2.9.1 drivers installed now. This was a clean install of Win2k Pro. I've even downloaded the Nvmax program and used the settings they recommended but still had the same benchmark.. gah! Is there something physically wrong with my visiontek geforce2 ultra?? or is it a software problem?! Plllease help me hehe. Thanks.

You could run your puter in safe mode and look in your device manager open display adapters and see if there are any Ghost drivers in there left from your voodoo 3 If so, delete them and this should fix the problem.

try a dual boot with wn98se and see your scores then, but i get a 2600 in 3dmark2k1, and my comp sucks next to yours.....

that other results r from cards not overclocked? is yours overclocked?
when you installed GART didnt you choose the standard mode? that will only enable 1x for the AGP. if so, try reinstalling it in turbo mode - if youre lucky it will release 4x, otherwise it will keep at 2x - in this case, try forcing it to 4x using nvmax.
also, r all that other results from ppl using W2k pro too?
how is your AGP aperture size set to? id recommend you to set it up to 256MB.
even so all this together couldnt drop 2000 points in 3dmark. pay attention also to your drivers the the voodoo remnascent ones.

Nothing is oc'd on my system atm.. gart? /boggle When I downloaded nvmax in the guide it showed how to specify 4x and it still didn't work =(.

Is there any particular setting I should set the memory to as well? =/

Did you install the VIA 4-1s (without AGP), and then the AMD Miniport driver?? if not that's likely what's crippling you.

Hmm.. I don't think I did that.. =/

The miniport driver should come with the mobo cd correct? Is there an option to install an AGP driver in the 4in1 install thing.. hehe don't remember =/

Yeah the miniport should be on the CD. When installing the 4in1s there is an option to install AGP support in standard or turbo mode, select don't install. The VIA AGP driver conflicts with the AMD one.

Kickaz.. I hope it works.. thanks =))) Gonna uninstall.. reinstall without the AGP support and find the one on the cd.. is the agp driver on the cd pretty easy to place? ;)

Make sure your internet connection is turned off when you benchmark!

When my cable modem is on I get scores of 3500 or so and when I turn it off they rise to 4000.

I don't know why it happens, it just does. Probably the crappy NIC I have.

Also try the 12.90 detonator drivers, they gave me an increase of about 150 points, not much but it all helps

Good Luck:)

Argg I'm so mad I didnt post that before , I actually thought of this but was having problems getting on the internet that night and then I just forgot to post (when I finally got back on the internet I was to busy asking my own questions , 2days later I see this post). Anyway its nice to see the problem has been solved.
