Fisrt Bill Gates steals from Steve Jobs and makes windows now he is stealing from Linux WTF someone should put a stop to this prick.

XP = Unstable Linux. I was at a computer shop I go to from time to time and I got to see a peak at the real XP OS and the only thing missing is the stableness of Linus and TUX the penguin.

This is sad Bill Gates wants to see how dumb people really are if their going to pay almost $400(Isn't that the price on XP?) for something that you can Download for free. This is really a dark day.

Bill you are such an evil man. I spit on the path that you walk on. I can see stealing from Mac because they suck but, Lunix you should be taken to court and have all your cash taken from you and then you should be taken out in the street and have both you feet chopped along with you eyes gouged out so you can still here the little kids scream every time they pass you. May every bad thing that can happen to you happen and then some.

1.)Ok the orignal Windows format was stolen from Steve Jobs Mac was the orignal GIU not windows.

2.)Not stealing Open Source code but an entire OS you boot XP and it looks anf eels just like Linux. I am not talking about open source code here I am talking about how this is like Windows took a copy of linux and just wrote Windows on the CD. Thats how close it is. Drive Icons the way you imput your password. Its almost like they sit down with Linux and said I like this this this this this and this ok lets make an OS out of what we like.

AFAIK, both Jobs and Billy Bully Boy saw a windowed OS for the first time at Xerox's PARC research center at the same time. They both stole the idea from Xerox, which didn't have a clue as to what they were sitting on.

I haven't even seen XP and have no desire to, whatsoever. I've read that XP is simply Win2K with extra bloat and eye candy. I hoped that Win2K was something like Linux. I tried it, but found it nothing at all like Linux.

I'm no wizard with nor analyst of of OS's. And I need no new reason to dislike MS or the horse they rode in on. The only possible way to decrease BBB's strangle hold is to free yourself from it. This ain't easy, as I'm sure you've noticed!

Another thought to keep in mind is that Linux itself was started to be a free os with Unix in mind! So is Linux just stolen Unix?

Personally, I don't think so- nor do I think that MS stole from Mac or Linux.

I haven't seen XP, but if someone made an XWindow manager for Linux that has ALL the user-friendly bits and pieces that Windows 95 had, and the ease of installing applications too, they could really give MS some competition in the desktop os market!

I have used Linux- Redhat, Mandrake and Corel (Corel is the best of the bunch) but for compatibility reasons it is not an OS I usually use.

The competion is good, and I am glad there are choices available, but I can't fault one os for taking a concept from another unless I am willing to look at them all in the same way- X was developed for Unix NOT Linux after all.

Now that I have spouted my opinion (LOL): shouldn't this be in debates?
