Which has more Mb's in total?
Both can carry the same amount of memory but SIMMs are based on the old memory architecture and are no longer in production. They supported up to 72 pins only.
They still cost quite a bit and MB for MB cost more than DIMMs do currently. ALOT more when you get up into large modules.

SIMM memory refers explicitly to 72 PIN memory, which can be parity, fast page, or EDO.
DIMM's can be had in EDO, SDRAM, or DDR SDRAM flavor (DDR being 184 instead of 168 pin).
Macs use EDO DIMM's. Some older, P1 generation mobos can use EDO DIMMS as well. Pentium 2 and higher generation computers should all use at least PC66 SDRAM. PC100 and PC133 are pretty universal memorywise, though. You can find a PC100/133 platform for just about any processor, including P4 now.
