Right now i am borrowing my friends geforce 3 and i will have to say its pretty quick in games. I have to say one thing though the 2d graphics suck in windows or games. The games with the geforce cards are just plain dark or scratchy with high fps. Who wants to run games at 1600*1200 or even 1280*1024 because i dont that is on my 19 inch monitor. I really enjoyed my last card which was only a voodoo 3500 and to tell you the truth i dont believe the geforce can justify a 260+ dollar value. I thought with these new geforce ti cards at least the 2d graphics would improve. I would of jumped on it right away and bought one, but since there isnt any games out for at least 6 months who wants one? I would rather blow my money on lottery tickets and go out to the strip club and have some fun.
Well thats my 2 cents on nividia.
My next card might be a radeon 8500 or higher when they arrive or just buy a cheap dirt gainward geforce 2 pro /450 with 4.5 ns ram.

Those who have been following my posts of late would know I agree whole-heartedly with your entire post... except for the strippers part, I'd probably just pay off a credit card or buy a 24X burner :).

Yeah wait for the Radeon 8500, or if you need to buy something now you can get a 64 ddr Radeon vivo for a great price. It is as fast or faster than Geforce 2 Pro at 1024x768 32 bit colour and thats real world gaming I figure.

Yopu got me thinking now bout grabbing a few of my buds up and checking out the dancing girls at Brandis here in Vancouver this weekend.......hmmm..LOL

How is your new radeon doing, everyting works fine? I slid into Futureshop today on Broardway. I may return my radeon in hopes of getting a SE version with the 5ns ddr ram as you lucked out. It would be a slight imp over the 183/183 5.5 ns ddr ram I now have once I plan to overclock it, thinking of getting a blue orb for it, never ever enough LOL:D

I have a GF3 ti200 at home on a 2100+ and a ATI 9000 Pro at work on a 2100+. Other than the vid cards the systems are essentially equivalent. Each sport comparable 19" monitors.

The bottom line is: I can't tell any significant difference between the two cards. The 9000 Pro is a smidgen faster than my Ti200 but the graphics are not much different. The drivers give me more flexibility in managing the Ti but that should go away over the next release or two of Ati's. BUT, the 9000 Pro is below $100. That's the kicker.

If I were to buy one or the other today I'd pick the 9000 Pro or 8500LE, simply because of the price. If the Ti's were to drop in price it'd be a coin toss.

LMAO,I used to go to the shack 12 yrs ago when I lived in Pitt meadows,it was pretty good back then:p .Then my dad would take his buddies slummin to the wild duck,ha ha one buddy wanted to buy it:eek: .

I can't see how a Gf3 could be better than my 8500,if the price is the same a Ti500,okay.Plus i've heard the ati's have slightly better 2d.Now gf4's is a different story,I woulda went 4200,but availability prevented it.I think guys are liking the 2d and dvd playback with the gf4's too.Jmo:beer: .

I went from a radeon 64 meg ddr Vivo (7200?) to a GeForce 4 Ti4400.....

The difference is amazing......

Get a Ti4400......you know you want to.....do it.....do it.......it will make everything better.....:D

2d graphics are better too.........
