I just got a set of Logitech z5300 speakers but I'm having issues with 5.1 surround when watching dvds. I have an external DVD writer which I use to play my dvds off of, and I use my motherboards soundcard, its a Chaintech VNF3-250 mobo, with a nForce 3 chipset. It have 5.1 surround capabilities but when I play my dvds, it seems like its only sending out left and right sounds. Like all the speakers work, but it seems as if its only sending out left and right sounds, and not distinct sounds like rear-left or front-right or center. Simply put it, everything is playing out of all the speakers, or I could simply say that my 5.1 system sounds like a 2.1 system right now. Oh yeh, and I'm also using WinDVD 6 to play my dvds, dont know if that makes a difference.
