I am new to overclocking, so bear with me. I have a 1ghz AMD Athlon on a Asus A7V MB. I have bumped up the buss freq. to 105 and set the mutiplier to 11.5 and have an effective overclocking of 1.207ghz. The proc is running at 51 degrees C. I have ran some "burning in software" and got the temp up to 53 degrees C. Everything is running stable, but would like to know if I am doing everything I can not to fry the proc.

Any help on this would be appreciated.

Everything looks good from here. Your temps are a little high you should look into getting a better hsf. If you already have a good one you need to get some more air moving through your case.

Thanks for your help. I am using an off brand mini-orb heat sink and fan. I might be time to upgrade to something better. Any suggestions?

I'd get rid of that Orb asap. Check out this link (http://www.overclockers.com/articles373) for some good choices.

First of all, Welcome to the forums.

After building a couple of systems with the A7V motherboards, I want to remind you that the bundled software with that motherboard, the ASUS Probe, has been said to report temperatures as much as 10C higher than actual. My experience supports this.

That being said, your temperatures, if they are as reported by the ASUS Probe, are not out of line and you should be fine, I would suggest for you to keep them below the upper fifties as reported by the ASUS Probe.
