anyone know of a good uv cathode make that does NOT emit a whole bunch of white light as well? the usual ones emit far too much white light for my liking. they tend to have those white lines down the side of the cathode tubing. i considered using a real uv strip light but i can't find any small enough that will fit snug in a pc. any info much appreciated. cheers

I have never had a UV cold cathode tube with the effect you're describing. I tend to buy mine from http://www.svcompucycle.com (http://www.svcompucycle.com/v12inch2ccflblack.html)

those look like nice ones. what i meant was a lot of the cheap ccfl uv tubes don't radiate very much in the uv spectrum and so the uv reactive stuff in the case doesn't shine very brightly. they tend be be more blue than uv. this would also be caused by a low luminosity ccfl though. it seems to take a bunch of tubes to get a decent effect. akasa are the most common over here and they're not very good
