do i need a harddrive cooler? and does the AS5 just go on CPU and do i need any other thermal paste?

HD coolers arnt nessesary, but for a Raptor its usually recommended.

But make sure you get a few extra cables to be on the safe side. And DEFINITELY get an extra bag or two of screws. Cables and screws are nearly always includes in the motherboard package and case respectively, but it's always better to buy extras just to be sure. It'll only cost several more dollars/pounds.

Yes, you simply apply AS5 onto the core of the cpu and then put the heatsink on top. Most heatsinks come with their own thermal paste, but it's usually very ineffective stuff - so AS5 is a good idea

Also - make sure you've got all the peripherals, e.g. a good monitor (are you going to be using a CRT or TFT flatpanel?), keyboard, mouse.

Speakers are also quite important, especially as you are spending a LOT of money on getting a state-of-the-art sound card. If you're paying more for a good sound card, you want at least a Dolby 2.1 sound system. With the kind of money you're paying out though, you might even think about a 5.1 speaker system. But DON'T just get a stereo 2-speaker system, it'll be a total waste of an expensive sound card.

after i get the computer working i plan on buying a Hyudai L90D LCD and Logitech z-5500 speakers so thats all covered

i builded a rig almost the same as that but with a x800xl and a plextor 716a last week. Im loving this thing so far. Now do you have a OS?

what programs should i download to test the cpu stabilityand memory? like prime95 and other things for burn in test programs? i am new to overclocking, and probably wont overclock until i read alot more, and do any of the programs display the temperature? and wanted to run memtest? i think thats what it is called. can someone plz list a few of the programs i should use or geme a couple of links plz
