Assignment server down?

My mom's desktop is giving me no end of problems. Compaq w/AthlonXP 2.2 chip. I keep getting "connection to assignment server 2 failed"; this after I get a gromacs that it reports as corrupted. I've had zero problems with the one-click console until this machine (this is the one that refuses to have a monitoring prog installed).

Un/reinstall console or install graphical client, or is there a way to change the server assignment (I'm guessing not)?

maybe a firewall problem or a router problem, sounds like something is blocking it.

I had that problem a while ago; I don't remember how I fixed it. I think restarting the computer had helped some with it.

I had several rigs do the same to me. In the client.cfg file, I changed the Clienttype to a 1 then restarted the core. got an Instant download of new WU (BIG PACKET unfortunately :(, well maybe fortunate because I got lots of points for that last one). after it started folding again, I changed back to type 2. no probs since. I think they were out of work at the time.

Graphical client seems to be fine (go figure); just got a huge WU. Every time I reenable the display, I get "could not fetch workunit" after which it continues like normal.

Yeah, my mom has the Norton firewall, which seems to conflict with everything (IIRC, setting it to allow things by default is difficult, and I don't know if she set a password for it). It looks to be OK now; "allow connections" didn't seem to take when I had the console client, but graphical works.
