View Full Version : Windows Character Map
I'm total newbie to the character map and have problem!
When i go there and copy some symbol or letter or whatever...no matter which font i choose i can only paste that character into the Offices MS word and there it is displayed correctly!
If i go to some other proggy like notepad or icq or whatever its totally messed up no way to se my desired symbol!!
Please help me...
Ummmmm.... I have an idea... First, I want you to try pasting into WordPad. If that works, then I think your problem might be you trying to paste one font into a program that uses another.
For example, Notepad uses only the System font, and if you paste in a charachter from, say, Times New Roman, then you will get the wrong charachter.
The solution to this is to find out what font the program you are using is using. Word and NotePad work because they are word processors, and will display any font you put in them. But with other programs, you may have to look around in the options to see what font it uses...
Hope this solves your problem!!

Yes u r right but i miss some characters that are from the font that no program is usin LOL nm u helped me anyway thx;)
I dont use symbols much, but notepad has so far been able to display anything I could find in the charmap (that wasn't a symbols-only font)
what you might try is:
when you open charmap and select the symbol, at the bottom (right-hand?) corner there should the the alt + number sequence
(ie hold alt and press 1234) that usually works for me when copy/paste doesn't
