Which should I go with for my video card upgrade, the Radeon 8500 for around $200 with shipping or a $300+ Geforce3? I'm definitely leaning toward the Radeon since that link on the front page this morning...
I've been an Nvidia fan ever since my 256 DDR, but the 8500 might change all that...

i'm pretty sure i know who's going to win this one...
more for less...hmmmmmm
the ability to run two monitors is also a reason to get the 8500. I just wish there were more benchmarks out there.

Does anyone know when the cards will actually be available?

Yeah, I'm probably going to wait about a week or so after they're out so I can see some more numbers (although the numbers out pre-production are VERY impressive)
fox: i believe they ship to the vendors on the 5th

To me it would be a done deal, the Radeon 8500. 2 monitors plus the best 2d video and performance in 3d that beat a G3. I am sure that what tests and results have been shown so far will only be better upon release and with newer drivers to follow.
Think about it its a $100 cheaper so you say, give it a whirl, I love my 64 DDR Radeon vivo.....

I am freaking ****ed, I missed the deal at dell and I work for dell!
I want the dam 8500 for $200! bah, its back to 253$

The confirmation I got from Dell said they expect to ship on Oct 8. We'll see if that holds given the apparent interest in the deal.
Someone suggested leaving it in the box until more benchmarks come out using the shipping drivers (I believe there is a 30 day return window).

but then you don't get the SURPRISE of what the drivers will be (benchies were done with pre-production drivers and were right up there with GF3...i just wish nvidia's driver writers would goto ATI...)
WOOT the deal is back, 20% off to make it a total of $203.60 for the new Radeon 8500 next day shipping. WOOT GO GET IT.

For me i think the Radeon 8500 would be the winner well i just have a feeling that it'll be better than the GF3
and despite that the price is cheaper than the GF3!
