I saw this in an article on Tom's Hardware Guide
"Quake 4 is the first game to utilize id Software's Doom 3 technology."
Think about what you just said..... :bang head
I'm pretty sure they mean 'Other than Doom III'
They should have bee a little more specific but I find it funny too. Im sure they meant the first game besides doom 3 though.

what's awesome about that? Like anyone here would prefer a xbox360 over a pc to play the game on. PC version will be so much better.

With turned down graphics, shorter levels and messed up controls ;)
doom 3 engine... if it plays like doom 3 which i hope it doesnt.. i feel like it's just gonna be another over hyped game. doom 3 needs decent hardware to run it, and the player physics (running, jumping, etc) feel kind of off to me.. it'll probably be a good game nonetheless but I have a feeling the MP following wont be there if it plays like d3 mp

nope.
Thats an in house developed engine.
I'd like to see more games with the Cryengine (special developed for Far Cry). We have all seen what detail it can produce, plus from what i've heard it allows for easy integration of new DX goodies and scaling in detail on faster systems

Second that. Was given d3 for christmas. Eyecandy on it really cant be beat. Love the lighting and dark levels. Made me jump at a bunch of scenes. But SP got soooo repetitive.
1. go down stairs
2. lights go out
3. multiple guys come out at you from different directions
4. run all over the map looking at PDAs.
over and over and over.
Cheated past like the 5th level just to see the end.
SP left a foul taste in my mouth and hoped the MP side would fix that. Then I realized the MP following for D3 was little to nothing. Was only a hand full of 12 person servers that had decent pings to me in VA. MP reminded me of old quake2 dm. Run around kill or be killed. Even the team deathmatch servers really had no team play at all. Old Q2 was fun and all but without CTF, WF mods etc I wouldnt have kept playing it.
I read some doom3 tournament winner interview and he talked about is "strategy." His pages of transcript could be summed up to "get to a gun first and aim well."
I guess those types of games appeal to some people. But I like a game with more dimensions and more interaction with players. Just personal preference.
