Well, what do you think?
If you have an idea on the list, go ahead an list it and either SpeedDj or I will add it on. :)
I'm not afraid to admit I'm the only one currently voting for OCSetiTeam.org, but doesn't .org make more sense, if being politically correct, since .coms are for commercial sites and this is more of an organization?
Excuse me for seeming extremely anal on it (to be honest I don't care, I just like the OCSetiTeam part) but just thought it made more logical sense.
.com is more popular though and I'm really not partial to either. I actually originally voted for no new team domain name at all, haha.
CRUNCH ON ANYWAYS!
Org makes more sense from a technical standpoint, but for some reason people like .com Personally I think the name itself is more important.

Org would be most appropriate for the site - but a lot of people do not know what the .xxx's mean. A lot of internet users think that all sites end in .com and do not know that the others exist - .org .edu .gov etc. I personally think that 'OCSetiTeam' is the best choice, but you have to take into account those who will automatically try to go to .com.
Why must you always beat me to posting polls ? =)~ *shaking finger at thelemac* Was gonna let the general consensus run for a few more day's =)
Ahh well VOTE ON People! This will be the name of you new home for the rest of time. Ohh one more thing I personally believe that as for contact info and administration info we should register this in Skip's name. Any thoughts on that ?
Finally got a new modem today and after my 8 hour wait for my Router to recognize it I am back online. Let's keep the ball rollin' gentlemen.
VOTE TODAY!!!

Sorry, let Basher push me around.
I agree. We probably *should* register it in skip's name...
Hey! You can make that a poll! *snicker* Just kidding. :)
Good to hear you're up...too bad it took so long though. I hate it when that happens. When I get something new, I want it to work *NOW*! :)
I was actually planning to build the server that it will reside on with the new host, so Skip won't be physically hosting it. The new host will be Westhost, and my contact said he would let me setup the equipment for a huge discount - no registration fee and a basic monthly rate for their premium package. This would basically make me remote system admin, but if Skip is going to feel slighted then we need to rethink this. Thoughts?

Was thinking that it should be in his name so that it's tied to the site...shows a site singularity. So that it doesn't seem that we're branching off or anything.

Just in case anybody missed Kris's point in the other poll:

Believe it or not, MANY, many of the "big teams" now know who we arelet's keep them apprised of WHO is gaining on them and WHERE to find us... when they want to join up... :D
just my 2 cents...

Thought it might be relevant.

I have to agree 100%

Actually I would normally but OC.com is a proprietary site. It is owned by Skip, Joe, and Ed. It is solely theirs this is why ownership of any domain name relating to the site should be owned by them, our team is property of Overclockers.com anyway you slice it.
Hope that clears it up a bit.

Ok, I'm not responding to this issue again because I'm just so pushy. :)
Well this is a bit of a grey area. Joe owns the overclockers.com domain, but I don't see how they can own the team domain - it belongs to all of us and no one, if that makes sense. Daniel started the team, and Seti is of course owned by private members. I don't see how anybody could "own" the team or the domain we choose. I could just as well start my own team and name it ocseti. I think what it boils down to is not so much them having a right to own the domain, but rather from a registration stand point, who signs up and pays for it. If Skip wants to register it and pay for it, then it can be in his name, but if I do it I don't see how it could be in his name. I don't see that it affects the team either. I mean how many people are going to do a whois and say hey - this isn't registered to Skip so it's not a part of overclockers. Just my 2 cents worth....

This indeed is a gray area and perhaps Skip or Ed or Joe should weigh in on this since we are debating back and forth. I see both sides but IMHO the one who pays has there name on it.
Maestro
Yeah I'd like to see them give some opinion before we move forward with this. I see no problem with it being in my name if I'm paying for it and ultimately providing the server it will reside on, but I want them to be 100% comfortable with this. I don't want them to think that I personally am infringing on their web site operation in any way shape or form. All I'm doing is fronting the cash and equipment to host the web site.

You know I have seen in GD posts about overclockers.com IRC channels and Yahoo clubs and so forth made by other members and the only response I have seen is a simple disclaimer made by a mod show seperation of those places and there relationship to Oc.com. Just thought I would throw that tidbit of info into the mix.

Yeah, but this is an actual entity of www.overclockers.com, whereas those chat rooms are not.
ARGH!!! I just voted for the wrong one!!!! I REALLY want OCSetiTeam.com and NOT OverclockersSetiTeam.com .... When you count, just remeber this poor jiggly's error...
Oh yeah, on www.overclockerssetiteam.ocm, did you notice that you pu ".ocm"? Just wondering ;)
