What does everyone think is better to run
240x16 at 1:1
or
250x16 at 5:4

I plan on buying some faster ram, but right now I don't think I'll be able to get my Crucial DDR-400 up to DDR-500 (I haven't tried playing with the VDimm yet though)

Just wondering what all the more experienced OC'ers think that I should do. --Lutzy

Running rams 1:1 in syn is always the ideal way. Again, depends on what your rams are capable of. But 1:1 is the goal...

Do you think my ram rated at 2.6V could handle say 2.7V?

I tried booting at 250x16 1:1 and it froze while trying to load Windows.
250x16 5:4 works fine and is stable.

Any tricks I should try to get my ram to run faster? I've never really played around with the ram before. --Lutzy

It depends. You probably should run some benchies. But, my experience has been, if you can raise the FSB enough and run tighter RAM timings, then 5:4 ratio is comparable to lower FSB and loose timings.

Vdimm of 2.7v will be no problem at all. If you have good case air flow, then 2.8v will probably be ok.

Currently, what RAM timings are you using and what is your RAM rated for?

250,2.7,1:1 that should be fine, hopefully it works and you should be perfect knowing you are also on the edge of your oc

My timings are currently 2.5 4 4 8 (This is at 250x16 5:4)
Hmmm... That's weird, CPU-Z says my SPD timings are 3 3 3 8 at 200 MHz, but my BIOS which are set to use SPD used 2.5 4 4 8... Weird

I've got pretty good air flow through the case. I've got a Zalman7700CU too which should help cool the modules.

What should I try and do first? Loosen the timings or raise the Vdimm? (On a sidenote, I can run 240x16 1:1 without changing VDimm or timings)--Lutzy

Definitely try 2.7v first. Maybe try raising FSB a couple increments at a time, Next try relaxing the timing to 3-4-4-8 (later try 3-3-3-8 for kicks). That Crucial will handle 2.8v no problem since you have decent case ventilation, so that's next step. Maybe you'll hit 246 or 248 FSB and that will be good enough for you at the 1:1 ratio.

for me too, I have p4c 2.6 oc @ 3.06 fsb @235x13 and in the bis settings I left the dram timing on auto, which give me a 2.5-4-4-8 for an original kingston 3.3.3.8 after oc the ram is @ 189mhz (normaly @ 200), well that's what cpuZ tells me(version1.27).
could it be possible to get the ram faster without damage, I'm not sure that the mb support ddr more than pc3200, it's gigabite pe865 (ip100,1x)?

run memtest for at least 12 hours. if its not stable, then try to relax the timings more, and run again, if still no stable, then bump up the voltage to 2.8

I'd recommend running 3DMark01 with both setups in question and then see which one gives you the highest score.... if you're a gamer, that's the setting that will give you the best real life performance. If you're encoding and stuff like that, you might want to run PCMark04 will both settings and compare them that way.

on air, i'd say 1.5, 1.525v. higher voltages MAY be safe for the cpu, like even up to 1.6-1.65, but at that point, your mobo would most likely die, or not last very long..

Up to 1.5v is usually perfectly safe with decent cooling. Anything above 1.55v is too risky for me.
