Is anyone else having issues with Steam not loading up many servers? I just built a new rig over the weekend, and I reinstalled Steam and HL2/CSS after my format. Whenever I load up the server list and hit refresh, it only comes up with like 300 servers for both CSS and CS1.6. I used to get like 3000. I tried turning off my firewall, thinking maybe it was blocking some port but that didn't make a difference. Is this isolated to me, and maybe I should try reinstalling Steam, or is this a widespread issue right now?

Also, when I try and go into a CS1.6 server it gives me a message that the server is not authenticated. I've tried several different servers and all give me the same message. Anyone seen this problem before who can help? Thanks guys.

i just tried a full server refresh and it's refreshing slower than usual.
however, i'm at 2000+ and climibing.

u sure u're not using any kinda filters that'd narrow the results?

i notice that if i filter to a game in server browser in steam, then launch a different game, your selection will be locked in game.

so, i launched css the other day, go to browse servers and it was locked to filter to only viwe 1.6 servers...

I normally launch Steam first, filter for the game I want, find a server, then launch the game from there so it's possible that could be the problem. I think I may have been searching from in CS:S after filtering for CS1.6 my last time in Steam. I can't remember for sure. I still don't understand why it's only coming up with like 60 results though. It should refresh the whole list even if it's locked to filter for a game that I don't actually want to play.

Any ideas on why CS1.6 isn't authenticating any of the servers that I'm trying to connect to?

Never mind this, I figured it out. I thought I had turned my firewall off, but I had just closed the system tray icon. I turned it off and now I get 2000+ options and can connect to them all. I told the firewall to let Steam do whatever it wants, but apparently it didn't listen. Should be no problem anymore. Time to kill.

Did you try turning your firewall off, or just opening the ports? I gave full access to Steam in my firewall settings, but it still wouldn't give me a full server list, and even when I manually put in a server IP as a favorite, it wouldn't refresh correctly and would tell me the server was not responding and had no players. Then if I connected to it there were people playing and the server was responding fine. Firewalls (at least nVidia firewall) seems to do weird things to Steam. Try turning it all the way off if you haven't already tried that. May fix the problem.
