View Full Version : DYI waterblock, part 1 (images)
A little project i decided to start just to keep me entertained. Currently, I have a Zalman (http://www.computerhq.com/Zalman_ZM-WB2_GOLD_CPU_Waterblock/ZM-WB2_GOLD/hardware/partinfo-id-498289.html) waterblock, and although it was good for a gift, Im itching to replace it. The Delrin and Copper i got for free, while returning scrap aluminum. That was a bonus.
after few hours this is what i came up with. Camera kind of sucks.
(edit: I didnt notice i used a different set of pics and not from the phone. sorry for misleading)

You should put this in the project logs also so that other people can see your nice work. :)

Very nice, I can't waite to see it when it's done. It might work better if you make the columns rounded instead of square. You'll get less restriction that way.( I think)

pretty friggin sweet. pix are great too
very nice so far - my only suggestion is to make the pins in a diamond or circular shape so that theres less restriction, and between the pins, make a small indent to increase the surface area of the block
and i too wanna know what cell phone took thoes pics... thats almost as good as my $400 digi cam

Wow you have some nice tools to play with for you DIY Block. Wish I had those toys!
I am guessing its a Razor. My aunt has one and that cam is insane.
Good luck to you,

Looks like a good project. Very nice to see someone doing a DIY block. Rather rare these days.

VERY NICE TOOLS!!!
and the block doesn't look 1/2 bad at this stage either ;)
What're you going to use to make the channels in the center part of the block?
Very slick. Boy, talk about having shop tools to play around with! What are you actually using to mill that block?
