hey, i have the system below, except in about 2 days i will have an IWILL KK266+ board instead of the A7V.

my question.... which should i get, the 1.4 Tbird @ 266FSB, OR, the Athlon XP 1600?

they are same mhz... both 1.4GHZ. which will run faster? and, is the XP 1600 worth the extra $50 or so? (plus, considering when the XP's come out, the TBirds will drop lower i imagine.).

so, basically, money is a big factor (dont have a lot to throw around), but speed is important to me, with folding, divx, etc...

so i want the most speed i can get for the lowest price. is the extra $50 going to really be any better? i heard the XP's run a little cooler. will this allow me to overclock more? will the XP's run at a lower voltage, allowing me to overclock more, etc...

thanx for everyone's advice.

the XP1600 is something like a 1300 chip i thinkm it should be equel to or better than the tbird..... the Tbird will be cheaper though, if you need the chip quick i would go for the tbird, if you can wait id say wait for athlon XP

Id wait till you can get the XP 1800(1.53gig), cause i dont think that the 1500 will be that much of an imrpovement over the tbird, maybe a little faster, and a little cooler but worth the $$$$ for a new chip yet.

yeah, i will probably wait and see how prices are effected once the XP's actually come out in full. maybe they will drop after a few weeks. i dont need it now really.

i can get my 800 to 1GHZ easy, i just need that new mobo first. my old one craps out. yeah, i agree, i dont really think the 1600 will be any better than a 1.4GHZ (price/performance ratio, its 50% more money for the XP). the 1800 might be cool though. ill wait until i can afford that, or wait until the 1600 drops to like $120 or so.

just didnt know if they were supposed to be supreme to the tbirds or not. ill have to wait and see on that too! ill be curious to see people's benchmarks of them.
