View Full Version : AMD duron overclocking
I have a Duron 750 @ 850, he run perfectly with no prob ( 36 C ) at this clock,
so when I try to put it at 900 or more with 1.85 Vcore he start OK, so when windows98se open, he freeze on the first screen.
My botherboard are a Abit KT7-RAID, 256 meg cas2
some one can tell me what's the prob here ??

what is the FSB and multiplier settings at. When you try to up to 900 do you just up the multiplier to 9x100. That speed does not need max voltage. Try to unlock the Duron by connecting the golden bridges on the chip labeled L1 there are 4 of them. That way you will be able to change the FSB instead of just teh multiplier i think that at max voltage 7.5x133 would work and that will give you 1gig. That is very dooable for a Duron. Just post the settings for that speed and I/we can help you more
multiplier factor : X 8.5
CPU FSB/PCI clock : 100/33Mhz
cpu FSB plus(mhz ; 0
mi L7 bridge and L1 bridges are close

altough come to think about it only 1x higher on your cpu isnt that much there must be another prob ... did you try another OS ... did you burn in ... is you psu big enough
there are a couple of things that could cause this prob

The specifications you have displayed show that you are running your Duron on a 100 mhz FSB however the Durons will run quite happily on a 133 mhz FSB and higher providing your ram and components can take it.. I would suggest trying to lower your multiplier and trying to increase the FSB which will give your larger gains as it increases performance across the whole system as it will run your cards faster as well. However you have a KT7 mobo which uses the KT chipset :( and I would expect that the maximum FSB obtainable by your mobo would be somewhere in the region of 110-115 mhz.. you never know untill you have a go
Remember to watch your tempratures
Good luck
ok, thanks you...
so I not able to change my FSb....
and for the temp.. I don't thnik I'ill have some prob withy my SK6 7500 rpm fan

My 750 runs happily at 133x7= 933Mhz
Had to manually connect the L7 bridges tho to get it to work. Now V core is always at 1.888V
yeah.. so I not able to change it in my bios ....
