Hey, my Internet Explorer has been really annoying this past month or so.. It randomly goes bad, and I've had to do system restore becasue I don't know whats causing the problem. When I open it up, and try to type in a link, or click the link history to browse some sites, it instantly crashes. I have taken a screen shot of the error msg it puts out, and usually the first time it happens I get a second error saying Dr.Watson debugger has encountered an error and needs to shuts down.. Im not sure if this is spyware or what, but I could run a hijackthis test for someone, Im not sure how to read the results though. Anyways, it's been happeneing non stop for a month or so, and the only way i can fix it is by doing a system restore, which is getting annoying. After I do the system restore it lasts a few more days or up to a week before it goes bad and starts crashing again. Any help would be appreciated.

I just now trying to make the screenshot of this error, and it seems like its happening in photoshop too.. when i click the little tab with the triangle to choose a directory to save the file in, it instantly crashes, or if i type in a filename to name it it crashes too. =/ (the tab thing im talking about that drops down a list is circled in red in the picture)

here's a link

.. ill put the link up in a bit, my ftp program is crashing now too...

ok here it is http://www.op1o.com/pictures/Untitled-1.jpg

Open Event Viewer (in order to access the error logs, and check for any critical errors)...Start | Run | Type eventvwr.msc and click OK | Highlight "Application" and "System" independently in the LH pane | Right click any error message(s) (critical errors are in Red), and select "Properties" | Write down a couple of the latest critical error messages exactly as they appear under the "Description" field, and post them in this thread.

Also, open the System Information tool by typing msinfo32 in the Run box | Expand "Components" | Highlight "Problem Devices", and look for any problems that might be listed there.

Faulting application iexplorer.exe, version 6.0.2900.2180, faulting module shgina.dll, version 6.0.2900.2180, fault address 0x00007af2. for more information, see help and support center at http... (iexplorer.exe)

another one..

Faulting application drwtsn32.exe, version 5.1.2600.0, faulting module dbghelp.dll, version 5.1.2600.2190, fault address 0x0001295d

it seems that the IExplorer and drwatson errors are all the same there, and those two are from the application event viewer log.

here is one from system log:
(i think this is cuz i entered the same IP/dns server info into our computers)

The master browser has received a server announcement from the computer SUPERFUNK that believes that it is the master browser for the domain on transport NetBT_Tcpip_{2b32348e-90D0-4f29. the master browser is stopping or an election is being forced.

I can't find any other related ones to my explorer problems under the system directory.

One thing you could try afa troubleshooting, since I see in your sig you have an Audigy 2 ZS installed...Start | Run | Type msconfig, and click OK | In the System Configuration Utility, select the "Startup" tab | Check for the following startup items...RCMan, and SbDrvDet | If either is found, uncheck them, click OK and reboot. RCMan is the Remote Control Manager, and SbDrvDet is the Sound Blaster Driver Detector...both of which are installed when you perform a "Full" install of the Audigy 2 software.

If you're not using a remote, it's not necessary to have it checked in the Configuration Utility...in fact, you can choose to not install it during the software installation phase. Loading the Driver Detector on my system causes major havoc, especially when the Remote Control Manager was also being loaded. It took me quite a bit of troubleshooting to finally figure that one out.

hmm, SNDS wouldn't be cool.. it ain't my startup configuration, I only boot up on my mouse drivers. Could the possible SNDS be stopped if I go back to stock 2.8 clock and lower my voltages? I think vcore is around 1.65 right now.. if it were going bad, why would a system restore fix the problem? I originally thought it was spyware or maybe a virus.

Please post a HijackThis text log file. It would be best if you could do a scan when you are encountering the problems so we can see if anything unusual is running.

Definitely back off the overclock until the system can be deemed completely stable. Run stock (i know, it's not fun but... neither are crashes if it is indeed related to hardware).

it is strange that a system restore will fix the issue though, which makes it sound like software more than hardware but we need to make sure we remove hardware as a potential problem.

ok, the problems just started happening again.. here's my hijack this log file, I'm not sure why there's so many urls in this. I downloaded startuplist, but winrar doesn't work at all.. immediately crashes when I open it. So I guess its a windows explorer error, not only an internet explorer.

Those all sound bad to me...

Alright, well I've tried downclocking and the problem goes away, and right now I'm trying a different processor, 3.2 p4 running at 4ghz, and there are no problems, so im guessing that it might be the northwood death syndrome. =/ Thanks for the help

this isnt a processor issue mate. its spyware and adware doing its usual. If you manage to clean it up goodjob, otherwise i recommend switching to firefox.

nope, it can't be just a spyware/adware program, I ran the ad aware system, cleaned the bad files that turned up, and I also deleted the questionable hijackthis files. The windows explorer still crashes after this, so unless there's some undetectable spyware or something I don't think it could be that. It's either the processor or my harddrive, the windows may have gone bad on that, I heard its possible for a stick of memory to corrupt my copy of windows.

I do but im still used to internet explorer, its what ive used for so long, and its still a simple, convenient way to browse the internet. D;
