View Full Version : Hard drive is failing. Need opinions.
Ok so my 200GB hard drive is failing and I'm left with two 120GB hard drives. Is it worth it getting a raptor? I'm kind of leaning toward a 36GB raptor as a boot drive and my other hard drives for storage. However, if I do get a raptor I'll have almost 2x less space. What do you guys think? Should I get a 300GB hard drive as a replacement or get a raptor?

Well which do you need more? Storage or speed?
The 74gb Raptor would be the way to go if possible. Otherwise most modern larger 7200rpm drives are close to the speed of a 36gb raptor.

Yea, if you need to storage then the 300gb is what you would need. If you would rather have speed, then the 74gb raptor is a good choice.
If going for the storage route, the hd's with 16mb buffers are pretty fast, but I dont know if they are the same speed as a raptor.
200gig drive? Wouldn't that be under warrenty still?
what type of drive is it?
Yea it's under warrenty. I'm getting a replacement but I can tell my parents that I will need a new drive just in case the replacement drive fails. I want a raptor. ;]
