if cell (or some development of it) takes over the pc market from x86 processors
will microsoft stay in control, will we all be buying Windows 2014 Cell Edition or some version of Linux IBM cooks up, or Sony OS, or some wild development of the OS/2-Ecommstation code? What do yall reckon?

what i was asking was did people think that MS Windows would remain the de facto standard or would IBM & Sony push MS out of the market? Or would everybody go Open Source? Whatever happens I think one company would probably end up with a desktop monopoly before long.

MS has the brand recognition. People will still want Windows, they dont care what chip is inside. As long as Dell tells them its fast, and the price tag is right.

IBM and Sony might try, but I doubt they would go very far.
