this looks amazing. i especially like the line "Over 3x Radeon X800 XT." the g70 vs r520 will be a very interesting battle.

Looks like bull**** to me.

entirely possible (hence the "unofficial" in my thread title). the release date (Q2 of '05) is obviously almost over. who knows. the specs themselves, though, don't seem too far off from what the g70 is supposedly at.

We should all go back to the days of the Ati Rage 128 PRO 16mb PCI...

3x the performance of the x800xt on what game and under what conditions? sounds like this is going to be the best paper release yet - cant wait ^^

Seen four of these threads the past month

And everytime it's 'unofficial' and 'unconfirmed'

This has been brought up before, by Overclocker550. These stats are SOLEY speculation.

This has been brought up before, by (I don't remember the name, similar to OC550). These stats are SOLEY speculation.

It was oc550 at least twice ;)

i think 700 core is BS but we will see.

700 core is complete possible, look @ what todays overclocked cores do - remember that show in texas? ATI sponsored and got the worlds best overclockers there to push their systems...

i dont doubt this - possibly a SLI killer as ATI has been rumoured for sometime to be making.

The fact that it will be awesome is no doubt but the hard evidence of frequencys, shaders, alus, etc still aren't known.

all I care about this time around is availability, I plan to buy one of these - and It was stress getting my x800xtpe, if I place my order and its at my doorstep days later I shall be a happy gamer

Kind of seems like overkill IMO. I've got a 6600GT, and I can run HL2 at over 115 FPS, granted with AA & AF not turned all the way up, but my monitor can only handle 80Hz anyways, and I haven't seen many that can do more. Seems like the 520 will be more than is necessary for quite some time. But I guess this is a place for overclockers, and the envelope must be pushed by someone. Who better than us?

These "unofficial" (speculated and completely sourceless) R520 specifications have been kicking around for more than a month now. The fact that they haven't changed or grown more detailed over time is good proof in my opinion of the information's dodgy nature.

As to outperforming modern video cards by ~3X... I feel that this number will prove wildly incorrect when said about a single R520.

Mr.Guvernment

i dont doubt this - possibly a SLI killer as ATI has been rumoured for sometime to be making.

I don't know if ATi even needs an SLI killer; they're rushing to launch their AMR chipset into the desktop market.

With AMR, ATI will have a technology to compete with nVidia's SLI. The highest end video cards are arguably overkill as it is - with an SLI/AMR solution, using two high end video cards in tandem.... well, we've seen what SLI can do.

The need to push single card specifications further will diminish with the release of AMR.

AMR is ATi's "SLI killer". No single card will compete with SLI/AMR tech for quite a while - remember that nVidia will also continue to release newer more powerful cards, cards that are also SLI ready. ATi's next generation card will hardly be capable of outperforming two of nVdias next generation cards.

But who's going to drop 900 bucks USD per card for an SLI or AMR setup with G70's and R520's?

Mr.Guvernment

those with money - obviously someone - otherwise they wouldnt price them so high - there is always buyers for cards that expensive.

Will there be AGP models?

anyone know any price range for the new r520's? Will it fit into the upper price bracket like nVidia is doing so it won't really drop the prices of the 800's?
