I decided to take the plunge into voltage manipulation today after getting sick of how loud my computer is.

I dropped both of my psu fans and both case fans to 7v, it dropped noise levels considerably (sorry, no measurements, it was a rash decision) and temps only increased by 2* system and 3* cpu.

Woo!

Unfortunately, my GPU's heatsink/fan is now by far the loudest thing in my system...Working on strapping a 7v socketA heatsink on...Update later.

i suggest a rheostat ;) much easier and you can use half way points

just so you know this is not volt modding...

D'oh.

So to be considered volt modding, I would have to adjust voltage to, say, my ram or gpu?

Darn, I thought I did something cool. Modding the psu fans was tricky...

*edit*

Wait, if this isn't volt modding, then why is the 7v mod the first sticky in the forum?

i wish i knew, it's pretty embarrasing

me i'd say cooling or general hardware, not like it matters :p
