Are S/PDIF brackets for digital audio generic or mobo specific?

Should be generic since the output needs to go to a number of different brand/models. Sometimes the connector to the motherboard is specific, but it shouldn't be too hard to make one.

I realise that digital audio formats are standardised, the question was on whether the I/O cards for motherboards are generic or manufacturer or model specific!
