strange lines seen in call of duty

i have a high end pc with a 6800 gt, driver settings are all default, recent official driver from nvidia, as i run around in many maps in call of duty (seems to be most apparent in snowy maps) i can see many many lines on the walls and stuff, its not like a glitch, the lines im seeing are changes in brightness, like fog, as i get closer to a wall it becomes darker and more defined, and i can see as the strange lines of brightness shift away, this is probly very confusing, but if this is a common problem im hoping yall can help me out, its allways been seen on every nvidia card ive used, i havent seen those lines of fog when playing the game with an ati card on my sytem, so im thinking maybe its a driver setting in the nvidia drivers, i havent noticed this in any other games so it leads me to beleive maybe it is a open-gl problem becasue all the other games i play are dx based, well, doom 3 is open gl2.0 and i dont remeber seeing these lines

anyways if yall have never herd of this problem and have no idea what im talking about, jst let me know and ill take some screenshots and post them here
