The NF7-S uses the infamous Soundstorm audio solution provided by Nvidia. Quality wise, sound and performance is on par with the Audigy. However, the Nvidia solution does have one advantage, it can encode and output Dolby Digital AC3 in real time. This feature is especially usefull if you hook up home theater speakers to your computer.

I don't know what you should do about the logitechs...Probably should start another thread about that. As far as real time AC3 encode, you can't implement this feature unless you have a AC3 decoder such home theater receiver, or have the z680 or z5500.

Soundstorm is great. Especially if you're using the onboard optical output. Works very very well. I have it run out to a mid-range KLH pro logic reciever pushing some KEF reference towers and a custom 250w Savard HI-Q sub box. Sounds frikken awesome :D.

Let me put it this way, if you're planning on buying a live or audigy, don't because the soundstorm is better than the live and on par with the audigy. If you plan on getting an Audigy 2, then it might be worth the upgrade but I wouldn't really do it myself.

I have the NF7-S and my 5.1 home theater system. I use the optical connection as well. Sounds GREAT!
