I posted This thread over in our AMD CPU forum, but it's probably of interest to those of you considering an A64 San Diego. I suspect the IHS was improperly installed at the factory.

Until AMD follows the path Intel is by soldering them on (with whatever substance they use), I suppose removing IHSs may always be an alternative to helping reduce temps.

65C sure looks abnormal to me on H2O. That's toasty.
 
{pms}fishy was having his load temps shoot up under load, he removed his IHS and his temps were good. he remounted block and it wouldn't boot, small chip out of corner. apparently these 90nm cores are really weak for some reason :( i've never had problems with socket a or 130nm a64. be careful!
