I have a 540j 3.2 ghz processor and in the bios it reads 55-60c but when I install speedfan the 2nd temp is 45-47c..... which is correct??? if the bios temps are correct then the cpu will shut down when I play HL2 or UT 2004...I was playing UT 2004 and switched between the game and speedfan and it reads 60-62c which in tern would mean that the bios temps are reading 70-75c which would shut it down.... any suggestions

bios temps are correct, the reason the temps are lower in windows is that windows will send CPU HLT commands to idle the CPU. Bios doesn't do this so the CPU is under some load.

Run S&M or Prime95 (x 2, small FFT) to see your full CPU load temps.
