View Full Version : Can't put my 9600 xt into 8x
I installed the DNA-ATI-3954 file and under the control options I can not change my AGP speed. When I take it up to 8x then I retest all and the pc restarts it is back to Set AGP speed to Off. I dont think I am getting the best out of my card i feel like I am missing something.
Have you tried setting it up through your Bios? Your bios should have an option to run your card at 2x/4x/8x/auto. Whats your vid card and motherboard model??
I have a MSI KT6 Delta-LSR motherboard. When I goto the bios i can not change my AGP from auto. My video card is a Radeon 9600 xt.

If there is no way to get into agp8X mode don't worry your not missing anything.I wrestled with a 9600XT for months that wouldn't do 8X stable. After switching to 4X I found out I got the same performance anyway. The card is too slow to max out the agp bus' bandwith even at 4X
ok cool. I'll stop busting my head over it.
EDIT: **** i just must do it! Even if it doesn't help much. DAMNER!
After updating my bios I noticed that on their website they had AGP drivers that I never downloaded. So after all that it was the obvious. AGP drivers weren't loaded. LOL.

I'm sorry I never mentioned that.I assumed you had them installed but yeah that'l do it:).
In my case that was not the solution. It turned out to be my motherboard didn't like the 9600XT and agp 8X combo:shrug:
You are right though. No difference. :)
