I bought a seagate 80 gb sata hard drive: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16822148040
I want to hook it up to my MSI K8N Neo2 mobo:

It will be the only HD I will have hooked up. It doesnt have the ATA 133 cable hook up but a serial ATA hook up and I belive a ATA 150 hook up ( a male hook up) . The hard drive cables that came with my mobo are a ATA 133 cable (which wont work, it is like a 39 pin, 40 but 1 missing) and a serial ATA cable. Can I use the serial ata cable to use the HD or is it only for using 2 drives on raid?

the two types of cables that came with your motherboard are commonly called ribbon cables and SATA cables, ribbon cables service older hard-drives and optical drives, SATA cables are only for hard drives (well, one company makes sata optical drives).

if you look at the plugs on the hard drive you will see that there isn't anywhere to plug a ribbon cable in (so far as i know there aren't any hard drives that use both). the only cable that came with your motherboard that will fit that hard drive is the (small) SATA cable

btw do you have a SATA plug on your power supply?
