Hi guys I've had numerous problems with soundblasters crap drivers for windows 2k, games stuttering sound crackilin' games locking up wih the old blue screen of death listing the emu10k drivers as the culprit 100's of times.. Is this new audigy any better for via chipset owners?? Does it noticebly sound any better?? have'nt seen a review done on it yet but was thinking of getting one..
Thanks..

I have the SBLive and I am very keen on composing music. I do not experience the VIA686B bug, and so I am just interested to see HOW much better the Audigy is. I cannot see much justification to upgrade unless the card does something revolutionary.

It is much better, along with the enhanced EAX-HD it also ports 24-bit/96Khz audio play back, plus 100db snd.
The Live! platnuim (like all Live! cards) is only capable of 16-bit/44.1khz audio, your basicly comparing cd quality audio to DVD quality audio. Trust me it's worth it. I have an original live! card, and definetly will be upgrading in the next cuple of weeks to to the Audigy.
I think the live drive might work with it to, though i do know the Audighy platnium and EX seriese comes with there own version (that has other mods on it like firewire). It'd be cool if the live drive does work however, since that means all of us with the Platium can just pick up an Audigy OEM and plop the live drive on, and get a wicked upgrade for cheap!

Welcome to the forums :)

I have an SBLive Platinum and if you can upgrade to OEM and keep platinum bay then I too would buy an Audigy.

dont be surprised if creative have changed the connector for the live drive
they use a different remote and have different connectors (ie. firewire)

check out toms hardware for a review
