windows 64 is the same was windows XP 32bit - just has 64bit code execution.

3d icons wont be till longhorn @ least.
 
could do, maybe they want to keep the min. system specs lower - i know MS is supposed to release a version of XP to run on low end systems.
 
It's kinda funny how Longhorn was going to be this incredibly advanced OS way better than XP. Now they've stripped it of a lot of those touted advanced features and are dumbing it down so businesses can run it on their older but perfectly funcional PII machines.

Now that hardware isn't going to be getting a lot faster, software will have to get more efficient.
