Best Celeron for Asus P2B-F?

Hi folks!

I have an Asus P2B-F motherboard, hardware revision 1.00, PCBA no. A24.

Currently I am running a Celeron I/400MHz overclocked to 500MHz; cpu is running fine and stable.

I am interested to get the fastet cpu for this board and I am willing to use the latest BIOS update and/or the best slotket I can get. Probable cpu candidates could be the Celeron 900MHz or 1GHz, because they are cheap and fast... :-)

Unfortunately, the Asus homepage tells me, that I have a board with the wrong PCBA no. to run those cpus. :-( But no reason, why...

Can I use those cpus anyway with a proper slotket or am I stuck with my old cpu? Overclocking is not my primary intrerest if the cpu is fast enough (800/900MHz/1GHz and of course 100MHz FSB).

Hi! I had Asus P2B with Celeron2 800@1066MHz, Slotket
adaptor with voltage settings. So all you need is to update
your bios with latest version and you need good slotket adaptor
with voltage jumpers. There are some slotkets that won't work
at all with FCPGA processors, bacause there is no connection
beetween pins AH4 and X4. (FCPGA porcessors has new location
for reset pin). If there is no connection beetween these pins,
your computer won't even boot up! Then you need to solder
this connection to slotcet's PCB.
Asus P2B mobos are still good!! Just buy new >800 Celeron!:)
It work's fine on your mobo.

Don't always believe what they tell you. I'm running a cel566@952 with no problems. upgrade the bios though, like he said. Asus 370-dl slocket will get you going. My core is at 1.80. Take it easy going up. I do have a problem getting cpu temps through the slocket even though Asus says it will work. I slipped and told them I o'ced the board and that was that. You would think I had the mange. Check out the cpu data base. It helped me a lot. Good luck.
