Hi, this is my first visit to overclockers.com and from what I've seen so far it seems to be a pretty friendly & cool site :)

I'm all new to this o/c stuff so the questions I ask probably sound stupid.
Anyway, I was just wondering if there's anyone here with a Gigabyte 6VXC7-4X motherboard. If they are running this thing would they point me in the right direction on how to increase the vcore for the cpu?
I've checked the BIOS and motherboard manual and can't find anything about it. I'm running a pIII 866 (6.5 x 133) and when I change the fsb to a 140 (910mhz), it gets past the ram count and then locks up. I was wondering if this is because I havn't increased the voltage as I have problems finding out how to do so. I don't think it's a temperature problem because I've just added another 2 fans to the case and it looks to be running pretty cool.
So i'd just like to ask if someone knew how to increase the voltage on this thing or better yet give me a solution to my problem. Thanks in advanved.

Hi keep_it_cool, welcome to the Forum,
it seems to be directly autodetected by the Mobo, so the only way to go is the Chip Vid pinnining mod, check these links for more infos: http://www.hardocp.com/articles/intel_stuff/bumpvoltage.html or http://members.prestige.net/newbie_doo/webpage/vcore_adjust.html

I hope it helps you ;)

thanks for the reply The Doors
I will check these links out and tell you how I go.

adjusting the voltage manualing looks a big too technical for me. I think I'll get more fans installed just in case it is a heat related problem.

O.K.
remember that never your chip temps must go over 40-45 degree C @full load (100% load), but less is better, I suggest you MotherBoardMonitor that you can found at http://mbm.livewiredev.com/

I hope it helps you ;)

You should be able to go to 150 without upping voltage.I can run 150@1.7v no prob- 155 is another story-- see sig for rig
Btw you need good ram or it will be hard to get much out of it

without being overclocked mine is always 40+ full load or not.... it just reaches that temp with normal use...

my friend also has an 866 but it runs much cooler at 25C and he has no special cooling....just wondering why this is so...

Remember to use a very thin layer of thermal paste in between the Cpu & the Heatsink, the best for me is Artic Silver II, and add some Case fans, but consider that the air sucked into the case must be the same of blowed out, to do it consider the fans Cfm.
