This is the review I left on reseller ratings, tell me if you think there is anything I need to change.

I ordered the Canon Rebel XT DSLR camera from Dell.com on May 13, 2005. I used the 15% off coupon that was active at the time of my order, which gave me $150 off, and along with it I ordered a memory card for the camera, which I received a few days after the order.
The camera however was not supposed to be shipped until May 31. On May 20, Dell reported that the camera had shipped, but on May 28 I had still not recieved the camera. I emailed Dell's customer service dept., and was told that DHL must have lost the package.
DHL however, never received any information about the shipment, and the tracking number given by the Dell website was invalid. So Dell never even tried to ship the package, as DHL would report the last known location of the package, or atleast that there was a shipment reservation made, but there wasn't.
I was also offered a $100 coupon to make up for, what they claimed, was DHL's mistake, which does not even cover the coupon I had originally used.
I had noticed something that I thought was strange when I read the email from customer service, and that was that they could not send a replacement, although it did not elaborate. I checked Dell's website to see if they still offered the camera, and they did not. This leads me to believe that they never had any intention of shipping the camera, and that they had no intention of refunding my money without my intervention. If this is true, then it is absolutely appaling, and completely unacceptable, so I will give them the benifit of the doubt, although I will still never place another order from Dell again.

The only good things I can say about Dell is that the memory card came quickly, and their customer service responded quickly.

Looks good to me, and man that is a bummer, they should have at least covered the coupon in its full value.

That sucks.

I ordered a Canon S410 Elph last Christmas (for myself, heh). The shipping box showed up around 4pm - completely empty except for the packing list. Since the shipping label was not over the seam, and it was sealed with normal packing tape, it must have been easy for somebody in the shipping chain to open it up, take the camera, and reseal the box (it did have 2 layers of tape on it).

I immediately called Dell, and the overnighted another camera. I received it at 11 AM the very next day.

Sorry to hear it didn't work out for you.

yeah, i dont see how this is that horrible. you would have rather got an email saying they dont carry it anymore? then you wouldnt have gotten the $100 coupon. i'd say you made out like a bandit. find another camera you like there, save $100 plus whatever coupons you can wrangle up, and you'll be ahead of the game.

i read and reread the origonal post, and i don't see anything about getting a refund. it looks like they stole $850 and gave back $100. i'd report it to the bbb.

dell wouldn't do that though, dell is a great reseller

They offered the refund plus the coupon, but the coupon they gave me is not stackable, so it doesnt cover the original discount I had. To me, its not that they ran out of stock or whatever happened, but that they claimed they mailed it, but there is no evidence beyond their website that they actually ever tried to, because DHL has no record of the package. I have had packages lost in the mail before, but the couriers websites atleast have a record of the package, whether it be the last known location, or the reservation information that the sender provided them before pick up.

I don't get way you are not happy, most people will just refund your money and not give you the coupon money too. I would be happy you got that much. There is always more coupons through dell all the time so don't worry.

man that sucks, i've been going through a similar run-around getting my new lcd (except not from dell). so far it's been a week since i ordered it and i'm in the same city as the wharehouse it's being shipped from. apparently the shipping comapny "lost" it so they're sending another today...

i think they tried to pull the same trick on me as dell pulled on you

I think he is unhappy because he feels he was lied to? Would make me angry as well...

Exactly! Its not the money that concerns me because I know there will be more coupons in the future, its the principal of the matter.

And Subtotal, Dell didn't even make a shipping reservation for mine, so it may have actually been lost in your case, but there is no evidence to say that they actually ever shipped mine since DHL hasn't heard of the package in question.
