I have what is listed below in my sig, which is OCZ Performance PC4200 currently running at FSB 275. I was wondering if an overclock on ram is better than at stock for say pc4400. The reason being is that a friend of my has some OCZ Performance series ram like mine but is PC4400 and he is not running them at their current speed but yet unclocked. I was thinking of trading his pc4400 for my pc4200 and that way put less stress on the ram being overclocked. I don't really know if that is a good idea, but what do you think? My board is already set to the highest dimm voltage of 2.9 on the ram and well the pc4400 from OCZ states voltage of up to 2.9, so I am guessing I have enough juice to power the pc4400.

Have you tested your CPU using the memory divider to find the max stable CPU speed? It could be that you are maxing out your CPU rather than the memory

Ocz peferormance serries pc4400 doesn't go above 280, why won't you borrow his ram for a day or two?

I agree, try it out first.

I was actually interested in the PC-4400 Performance stuff too.

Seems like a pretty good deal, do these still OC well (is 280 really about the max)? Are tighter timings (2.5-3-3) a possibility?

Do you think these would be a better bet or worth the little bit extra cost over the OCZ Platinum rev.2 PC-3200?

What motherboard are you going to put the memory into?

What motherboard are you going to put the memory into?
Chaintech VNF4 Ultra (nVidia nForce4 Ultra Chipset)
It will also be paired with a 3200 Venice

Oh no its not like that... I am keeping my FSB 275 as is. I just wanted to know if it was better using the pc4400 at stock compared to the pc4200 overclocked. That was it and also both pc4200\4400 do FSB 275. A response to this post would be gladly appriciated.

It really doesn't matter as long as the PC-4200 overclock is 100% stable. They should both perform about the same at the same speed ( I say about because PCB and memory chips used can make small differences).
